The crash of a Dallas-bound jet wasn't just a tragedy to TV reporter Avery Daniels; it was an act of fate that handed her a golden opportunity to further her career. Mistaken for a glamorous, selfish woman named Carole Rutledge, the badly injured Avery would find that plastic surgery had given her Carole's face, the famous senatorial candidate Tate Rutledge for a husband, and a powerful Texas dynasty for in-laws. And as she lay helpless in the hospital, she would make a shattering discovery: Someone close to Tate planned to assassinate him. Now, to save Tate's life, Avery must live another woman's life -- and risk her own...

  • First book I read by Sandra Brown

I loved it, but it has been many years ago that I read it. I, too, thought that maybe it was a "new" book, but I read the excerpt first. It was already in paperback when I read it. A friend gave me hers and I believe I passed it along to someone else. It's really worth reading again.

Be wary of Sandra Brown books in iTunes. Evidently someone in her organization or at Apple, is listing her books as new, this one published June 1990, because they are now in e-book format. A disgrace.
  • Couldn't put this one down!

This may have been published earlier, as some people mentioned in their reviews, but it's the first time I've read it and it was a page-turner for sure! The author puts a lot of suspense scattered with some steamy scenes to keep the reader very interested. I highly recommend this book and can't wait to read the rest of Ms. Brown's books.

I love, love, love this book, but I will admit it is not new at all. I am glad it's available for my iPad so I can "re-visit an old friend" but I too wish that they would state that this is a "re-released" book. It's a bit misleading for some.

This book was excellent! The only problem was that I couldn't put it down and loss some sleep. Sandra Brown has done it again.
  • This is NOT a new book. Published in 1990!

    By Yes it's me again!
It annoys me to purchase a book that I have already read. Apple should be ashamed to mislead people into thinking books are new releases when the are not.
